brain dump RS notes

Lesson 18  on church leadership and selfless service.

No EXTERNAL faults, but maybe an internal spirit was working against him.Abrobation was expressed for others good works, but an unknown spirit would bring him trouble in it's selfish desire. (This reminds me of how evil can appear as good) In this case entirely unbeknowst top the deciever.

Now, I am reminded of the parable of a supper where the lowest position is taken because it is better to be asked to move to a higher place than to be openly abased by assuming to high of a position.

Story of the currant bush who was so overgrown and needed to be cut back to meet the measure of it's creation.  But after it was cut it appeared to cry and weep that it was so beautiful and tall, and it hurt to be trimmed back and loose all of it's "Standing". The man simply thought "I am the gardener here." and the bush was actually made better, though it did not seem so.

Do not seek to be too good too soon.

"Be Thou Humble"
"More Holiness Give me"

Mothers seem to feel less important and unable to do all of the great works of service that others do.

Do not think that you can ever do too much in feeding his sheep.

It is good to feed his sheep by doing seriously or visiting teaching.

We feel so fed when we gather at the feet of our leaders at conferences.

Most of the time, we influence without knowing it and that is how it should be.

When several talents are combined we may achieve perfection. It is through unity.

When we get callings it is to serve others not ourselves. We are given gifts and talents "May we pray before teaching." that what we teach might be the thing most valuable to others.

It doesn't matter if you spojke beautifully, or said something mesmorizing, we teach and learn with the spirit.

Keep in mind at all times what your motives are.

What are your motives for serving?
the world does so for glorification
 the church seeks to help.

Alot of the time, glory just comes in the church a pianist is an example. if they are very great, they will be heralded as great though it was never their intent.

Oct 1980 - These will I make leaders.

Work is not chosen by volunteer.

Diversity in marriage is over come in unity.making more possible.
(story comes to mind about the guy who was very in debt, but married a woman who has excellent credit so combined they had good credit, even though his was never actually forgiven, together more was possible)

"teach not as much by theory but by practice."

Humbled, dedicated men who are asked and qualified by the Lord to do his will.

(A good example would be Jesus Vs. Lucifer in the premortal counsel. we do not usually boast at being the best qualified though that may be the case as to who is overlooked because of pride.)

**A man without eloquence**

humility stems from a feeling of love when our leaders love us we can give it to others.

We all wonder what the Lord wants us to become.
