brain dump (Sac. Mtg. notes)

Topic for the meeting was Paint a Missionary Badge on your heart.

Gospel goes to the whole world with the internet! So even if we cannot go into
china as missionaries, we can still get into hearts and minds.

It is easier to talk to a group of people who already believe what you do and want
to hear you, though they might catch anything wrong that you might say, than to
talk to strangers about very personal things core to what you believe.

we can start conversations with anything and naturally a gospel discussion will
ensue.

Faith is so much more than hope in something true.
1)Believe
2)Desire
3)Hope - must have hope
    a) be able to see your self achieving the thing.
    b) know that it is realistic
the point is to attain.

So, after hearing this his companion put it to a test, and they began their fast,
they accomplished some seemingly impossible goals but not all of them. By doing
they learned that the Lord provides what we need not necessarily the "goal" we had
in mind (but the goal gets us going).

is repeated over 120 times in the scriptures

this man knew and has been quite familiar with our stake president for years but he
was very moved regarding this topic, it was notable.

we should read a book called "preach the gospel to everyone".

On a mission to London, W. Woodruff found an entire group of people who had been
prepared by the Lord for the gospel.

When a person acts upon inspiration that is a miracle.

If you bring only one soul to God, you will know exquisite joy. though it may be
you alone, it might be someone else.

Told the story about the teachings of Alma the younger regarding a mighty change of
heart. speaker likened that to Elder Nelsons admonision to paint a badge on your
heart.

We will be directed who to speak to and it need not be anything beyond making
friends to share the gospel.

It could be that the people in your sphere of influence are starving for the gospel
truths that you have. these could be people in your family or online, we cannot
really tell.

In a survey people were asked what they wanted most that others had.
these ranked high:
-A closeness to God as is evident in Mormonism.
-A deep and abiding love for family.
-A sense of purpose in life and fulfillment like their Mormon friends.

It is not the doctrine that others seek, though we know it and so seek the truths there, others seek truth and find it in our example

When we teach doctrine it is the inner light that others feel that motivates them.

Among those who need our attention are thos who were once "on fire" and invite (key word) them to come back.

Let Every man decide for himself.

The true power of change comes from the spirit we cannot convince anyone of any truth, through explination or use of words (they do not have enough power).

we cannot predict who will accept our invitation, but we still need to maintain friendships.

Story of a couple who thought they knew who would make a great family in the church but after everything seemed to go so well, they rejected the gospel. So, the couple stopped that interaction, and confused the family who wondered what was going on with their friendship.

We do not always get things right, And trying to reason out success or intentions is not a good idea. It is better to just trust and obey.

We are encouraged to make a list of who to befriend, and act upon it. Do not try to decide if they are ideal or not.

Feel free to use Mormony words and speech in our conversations. They tend to give an opportunity to explain in an unakward conversation.

Invite others, maybe just to come to the open house. 1 out of 4 people will say no. Inviting is a win regardless.

If you pray about sharing, you will be given who to share
