I went to a class at a local church in college. They were studying Jesus Christ and I loved learning more anywhere I could. We read a scripture that told to be wary of false prophets. It made me happy to study about Prophets because clearly they had always been part of the Lord's church, but instead the teacher pointed out and asked us to ponder that. Ok. But, it was under nefarious direction. Before he let us think he made the comment that at least their church did not have any prophets.
Then, later on the radio, there was a huge discussion about the leadership of the Catholic church, which I had high opinions of from youth culminating in a thing a host sister in Germany told me she said, "The way I see it is it is either you guys (Mormons) or us. Cause either we became corrupt and needed restoration or we still retained the proper leadership directly through the hands of Christ himself." So, they were discussing how terrible it was for the priests and arch bishops to abuse or molest children, parents trusted them. The announcer asked his guest an archbishop if the pope knew about this all along and did nothing. The reply was that well, THEY were not, nor had ever claimed to know everything, it is not like the pope was a prophet or anything.
