"One man's trash is another man's treasure" "don't place your pearls before swine." "Pigs are the smartest creatures."
I was thinking this morning about the internet and how someone pointed out that it is worldwide. I am smarter than a pig, but I was not considering the reaches my thoughts would have, or I honestly would never have said them. Oh! another cliche' "Ignorance is bliss." I happily sort of shout out my thoughts but, I never once considered who "could" hear them, I only considered my audience a small choice few, a group of family and friends. But, it left an impression on me when a best selling author explained that her intended audience was just one close friend, but that no she had achieved global recognition, and it was never intended. So we see that we never know or intend our thoughts to reach alot of the places they do.
Really I was thinking about how we just say things how we see them, if it rings true to anyone else, cool. but I remember a preface to a C.S.Lewis book where he said that no matter how strange a thing you say is, someone out there will say, "Me too!" or at least that was the sentiment I gathered. So, to me my words are trash, uh, but I am not "trash talking" that is something else entirely. But, because my words generally were bewildering, I realized that maybe they were pearls, and not intended for others. because to me they meant so much, naturally I wanted to be like so many teachers who had helped me form such ideas, share.
Really, I go to classes and I have so many comments and things to say regarding each thing, I simply must write them down cause I value them and want to remember them, but I know they will fade away if not written down. Then I was thinking about those who teach and how a comment was made that recently effected me how the teacher doesn't really matter in particular, it is the spirit that teaches people, And I have noticed that there are people that I really connect to while other seem to get more out of another teacher. What they are teaching is not trash, though sometimes not recognized as the pearl it is to me, but that is one of he great reasons for these blog thingys. Now we can know the supposed trash that goes on in the head of that little old lady sitting in the corner who never says anything out loud. She must go to the class for some reason, and now we can find out!
In a sense the internet makes the hidden things become visible.
I have had the occassion where others fail to understand what a pearl is and eat it, I suppose that is why we call other's "Pigs" when we get angry. cause it is frustrating to bare your soul and not be comprehended. I suppose that is one of the reasons we have prayer, we can know that we are understood by someone out there even when no one else "gets it."
I have this idea that I really want to become a global thing where we gather things that we consider trash and give them to our neighbor. Now, mind you some of the same things will be considered trash to them but other things hat have no value to you may be of great worth at that time to them , like is done commonly with baby stuff, and maternity stuff.
The last thing I wanted to do is say something about Chuck. He loved pigs. I used to get him tons of pig things just cause it made him so happy, and it made me happy to think that I could have made him so happy that easily.
Not intended, but I named my first son Chuck, well, Charles, but I realized the unintended namesake when I got him a bedtime toy that was a snorting pig. He loved it so much!
I also remember buying my favorite pair of shoes one day when I went to a thrift store looking for pigs with him, Ironically, they were "Chucks" or addidas all-stars. At the time, they were not considered cool of even likeable, but I liked them though, my boyfreind at thew time asked that I never wear those ugly shoes, he even threw them on his roof one day so I couldn't run away. lol! I was being punished for going to his house when he was playing poker with his buddies and I taped fishes to all of his windows. ha ha ha. It was fun. I digress, that was the "and such" part of this message, I guess.
I still did not tell the coolest thing about pigs. I asked Chuck why he liked pigs so much, and he told me it was because they were such smart creatures when evil spirits ( I think everything they did not understand that was bad was called an evil spirit back then) were being cast out of bodies they wanted to be sent to pigs because pigs were so cool. Before he said that, my opinion of pigs was entirely different.
Mind you he was no intellectual giant. He tried to claim mental retardation, but I argued that with him. Anyway, So, he liked pigs, and though we should not give them our valuable treasures cause they will just be misunderstood anyway, we can give them our trash and who knows, they might make a necklace.
